I'm spending two weeks on the boat from Boxing day and it is sooo hot here at the moment. 10 Years I have owned this boat and have never been satisfied with any window coverings I have seen other people do yet. I finally came up with the perfect solution (for me) and thought I would share.
I didn't want to attach anything to the fiberglass or drill holes but wanted to be able to open or remove them easily. Finished them today and put them on boat, note boat is in storage so I couldn't get very good access to the front two so they are not fitted properly. All material from ebay and total cost about $80Au
Material is 5mm double sided reflective foil on foam core.
Vinyl suction cups
brass (or stainless) eyelets
Knitted edging

You say the boat is in storage. When you get on the water, let us know if it is a success.

Will do, I am particularly interested in the two front one's as it can get pretty hot laying in bed after about 7am here due to sun ingress, I expect them to be very good, maybe not the prettiest solution but functional.

The two weeks on the boat, will your nights be at marinas with power, or on the hook?

In marina this time, usually at anchor but wife is with me this time so we thought we'd go luxury. Lol.

That reflective insulated material is bound to knock back the heat!
I know when I put up the similar shade in our van windscreen it is a dramatic difference (we leave the windows open for the air to circulate/escape).

Beautiful job on the shades! Great idea to use the reflective material. That should reduce the solar collector effect considerably.

Although it is a bit humorous as OverEasy indicated. I’m aiming to work in a diesel heater while you’re trying to keep cool…. That’s what’s fun about having members from all over.

Doing the similar with my M for this summer. Got some cheap car shades, double sided reflective with foam core. Cut them to shape and size and they just slip in behind the inside lining. Job done.

The suction cup mountings are a great solution to the getting/keeping them in place!

The edge wrap makes for a nice finished look too!
