I saw the start of the gathering for the cruise that was to occur. Eight trailer sailors and most of them were It was impressive looking down the line of them all beached. How did it go Tropico? Capt Kimo are you still with us? Enjoyed meeting you all. What a collection - SoCA; NV;AZ ID;WY ; and a Canuk or two. See you guys in the spring.

Hello Skip. Sorry it has taken me this long to respond to your inqury. Everyone had a great time. We all had quite an adventure departing Callville late Sunday afternoon and sailing to Middlepoint in the Virgin Basin after the wind advisories had expired. The winds had setteled down to 12-15 knots by 4:00 p.m. and we set sail with an anticipated arrival well after dark. We all had made it into the Narrows and the wind picked up to 20-25 knots. Everyone droped sail and motored to Middlepoint in rough seas and in darkness. After that the rest of the week was great. Try the following link for pictures:

I met you on Saturday evening, thanks for the help launching in the dark, almost hit a powerboat on the beach when I finally tied up with the group.

We really had a great trip with the exception of the bad wind day. It caught me at the front of the pack with the jib and main up. The topping lift was unhooked? and I had to drop the boom into the cockpit, water coming over the side from the windwaves. The Hunter 260 pulled out early, apparently due to crew concerns over the storm.

However, there were days of running, reaching and close-hauled in slow to good winds. I'm proud of my X, even kicked butt on a couple of days. Mead has become my favorite fresh water sail.

It's my pleasure anytime I get to lend a hand.
Newell, I remember very well the night you launched . The wind was howling! You really didn't need my help. You did make a believer out of me about boat handling in reverse. I had recently read an article on doing exactly what you did. You brought that boat in slowly and parallel to the dock in what was probably 35+ winds with what looked like full control. That was impressive. I looked at Pat's pics. Looked like a great trip. Did you get as far as Temple Bar? Maybe next year I'll be able to spend the week with the group.
