Yet another ballast question for 26X

Hi, I've had several M26 boats, had an early 26X(94) that was one of the first ones up in the Midwest. The first weeks it was docked at Bayfield, WI. I sure got asked about it..
This week, while working on my newer 2000 26X (old one had been sailed thousands of hours on the big lake), I noted that the water tank size and layout under the rear berth and vee berth, was "way different"... Does anyone have the water weight differences? What else was changed on the 2000 26X? (I looked over the "Official site", but found no archived specs). Thanks, Jim

THeres a pretty good discussion and some links in this previous thread

One person summarised and said you want a 2000 or newer :macx: so I think you have most of the later mods on the :macx: line

JRon...I have a 1999 MacX, and my video says the ballast weight is 1500 lbs. My pior boat was a 1992 Mac-S, but Im not sure of the ballast weight of the earlier boat.
Ive found emptying the ballast enroute to the docks for trailering is a real convenience with the Mac-X, as opposed to the earlier models which required to be on the trailer for unloading all that ballast water.
Happy Sailing.

my understanding of the ballast change was to move 150 pounds from the aft towards the bow. My 96x, tends to squat a bit in the rear....in 98 I believe, the design changed the ballast so it was a bit forward...that was at the same time that the valves were moved forward to the V berth. The weight remained the same with full ballast, it was just in a different place...still around 1530lbs...... :macx: Randy

Randy is correct-- Dealer Mike Inmon told me at a show that the ballast was moved forward bout 99-2000. Probably to compensate for four stroke weight as well as sailing performance.

My X manual states that the ballast weight is 1400 lbs. It is an early '98, has the ballast air vent under the companionway step.
