This is just an idea for all those interested. I would like to have a macgregor event towards the end of the summer on the Great Sacandaga Lake, NY. There is a great campground that has wonderful day use facilities as well as a great boat launch. I would like your input on this but here are some of the ideas I have been tossing around.
Mac Games
Fastest rigging (for those who trailered)
Open House (show off your boat)
A race or two
Sand Island cook off(using facilites on the boat)
More to come.......

Russell,
What are the onboard overnighting rules on that lake? Other than looking at a topo map, describe the lake for us from a locals' point of view, ie: water temp, activity, sailing appeals, etc.

Hey, a good event would be which is faster, an X or an M. A straightaway race for 1 mile.

Yes Chip is on the lake. I think you are talking about the "Ring of Fire" its held on sunday the weekend of Labor day.
I am still trying to figure out the best time for this event. I have camping reservations at Northampton Beach Campground for 20 through 27.
I will post some links and a lake map soon

Russell,
I just caught your posting, it sounds great. I will be up in that area for two weeks in Aug. I hope it can be during that time (Aug 6 through the 20). I have a mooring at Diamond Point for that time period, but I would pull Nice Aft out and haul her down there for this.

Overnight anchoring is allowed. There is no camping(tenting) on the islands. Most of the lake is formed up of sandy type bottom. The average depth is 40ft the sailing in the southern end of the lake is great. One thing that everyone will like is there is virtually no weeds....

There are several locations on the lake to launch. Since you are coming from Lake George I'd say Just come to Northampton Beach Campground you would cut over the Batcherillve bridge its 5 or 6 bucks to use the day use. I will be talking to my Marina about overnight parking and the cost for that(its within walking distance from Northampton Beach Campground.
Broadalbin is across the lake it would take 20-40minute trip at top speed motoring to reach the campground area. The one good thing is that the launch there is free. Its a good idea to pay the campground if you will be using there areas. I'm not sure what the policy is for leaving a vehicle at Broadalbin is though. I'll let you know.

I will be going up to the lake today and will take some pictures of the surrounding areas. I will post them soon as well as good places to eat that have docks on the lake......
I was thinking of having "Captians Meeting" for those that are even interested in the trip to get more infomation via AOL instant messenger. I will let you know the date and time for that.
Keep checking the website I have been updating almost daily.

I took a ride there yesterday to see how the drive from Lake George will be. Doesn't look bad at all. Count my wife and me in.
