I dont know whats wrong but, I paid $7295 to have a new Suzuki 50hp put on last August,no taxes either. thats including all the necessary parts, controller, wiring etc. Took OX-BO Marine near Bill B4S almost 8hrs. I was pretty pleased with that cost.

Sounds suspicious to me. Call Suzuki factory distributor and ask about it. :o

I paid $3299 usd for my Merc 75 4s from iboats.com and they shipped it all the way to Ontario for $275 usd.

Mind you, that did not include ANYTHING else, ie install, thrtl, cables, etc etc.....

Sorry, haven't been in the market for a new outboard in quite awhile ... but it sure sounds like a great price. Ask if they've done a Mac26 before, and get the reference. And phone the reference. I'm sure they'll add another boatbuck + for installation, control, mounting pads, etc (which are already in Everyman's price). Even at $7,500, it seems good for a DF-70.

I've heard about those shipping restrictions before. Suzuki attempts to force all their installations to remain within their own dealer network. It's a quality control strategy, that also makes it very hard for the consumer to price-shop among their dealers ... provides some geographic protection to the individual dealers. Would I spend two days driving, plus another day to install, if the dealer has a good Mac reference? ... on the bubble.

Suzuki makes a great product, with an industry-leading warranty. That outboard is the MAJOR component of my boat's enjoyment and utility values. And mine has never had, nor really needed, any dealer attention. But, if it's saving only $1,000 (7500 vs. 8500), I might rather have a closer dealer who's fully committed, to me and my boat ... still on the bubble.

Edit to Add:
  • 1. during Q1 of every year, Suzuki offers the 6-yr warranty at no additional cost
... it's their wintertime full employment promotion.
    2. You sure it's an '07 motor? ... might be last year's model ... so you'd have a 2007 boat with a 2006 motor. That's no biggie, unless they've made a significant MFG change.

Dave I purchased my 2007 DF70 for $6595 and had it delivered and in my garage for about $360. It took about 6 weeks from order to delivery because he was out of stock. It was from a dealership in Texas http://www.lmcboats.com/mypage.html?pg=SuzukiOutboards
It comes with the 6 year warranty .....email me if you need more info

Oh yeh . . . well

Maybe Suzuki doesn't want him to sell outside his dealership arena.

Or -

the dealer won't sell at the price of $5,999 unless he also sells the installation.

RVDAVE: After looking at these posts you may be better off going to OX-BO MARINE IN WISC not too far from you and buy it from them.Thats where I had mine put on.According to MATT19020 and the cost to him $6955.00 without all the steering linkages , controller etc, plus the pain in the ass to do the job yourself. As I told you before,I drove all the way from near Cleveland,Ohio.to Bills B4S place for the boat then we took it to OX-BO a few miles from Bills. So as you can see MATT19020 paid nearly $7000 just to get a motor. You are not too far from Bills place in Wisc, why dont you give him a call hes a helpfull guy. Best of luck George Lee
