stretching the Mac

I was reading that many cruise liners have been stretched, meaning, cut in half and lenghened so to carry more passengers. I wondered if the Mac could be cut in half and leaving the ballast alone, made to be a longer boat? I think it would be a easy job for Roger with the right jig to hold in place while reconnecting.

With two 26 M's sitting in my driveway the thought has crossed my mind several times...
I suppose I would consider extending the cockpit as both the easiest and most usefull addition area. I'd simply chop something like a 2-4 foot section of hull #32's cockpit out and insert it into #358. Drawing the insert line just forward of the helm pedestal.
Joining the two seams which would include the hull shell, the ballast, the main berth, the rear head liner, and the cockpit would be no small task. I'm sure it could be done, but what would you get as far as sailing and everything else?

Mate says lets knock the west wall and chimney out the den and extend out to the shed, and take the shed and...

I reply, hey, go look around for a different house to live in. Itll be a lot cheaper.

We cant afford a bigger sailboat, however, so we plan to make it wider by sawing it in two fore and aft and adding two foot sections. All the details have been planned out but were still puzzled about modifying the trailer such as to allow it to stay in its own lane. :)

Here's a Mac 26d lengthened...

So what speed does tha hull plane at ? It looks like he has a large engine on it.

I would not mind prettying up the aft lines of the 26X but wow this guy did a lot of work.

It's a Mac 26D, extended for a swim platform. Can't plane, the hull's not a planing hull and the outboard is still just a 10hp or so. Lot's of work for what seems little added value.
