I have seen "SAIL" outboards online, but have never heard of them before. They sure are inexpensive compared to other brands. Are they another motor in drag. They are Chinese made. Don't know if thats good or bad, but again they sure are cheap.

They have a web-site. Google "sail outboard motors"

Looks like they are Chinese knock-offs of Yamaha's..

Definitely knockoffs of the Yamaha design, I saw somewhere they even advertise parts will work in Yamaha motors, etc, at much less cost.
Depends how you feel about the new experts in copying technology!!

Lets see the Japanese invented "copy technology, make cheaper, protect home market, and flood international market" and now the Chinese are doing it to them......and I should feel.....like typing this was more effort than they deserve

Copy technology. The Japanese copied off the USA. My father was part owner in and electonic manufacturing bussiness in the 1960`s. His bussiness partner traveled to Japan and opend up a cheap labor shop over there. My Dad filed suit and lost. Americans have free choice, they chose to buy the less expensive products.

I ride KTM motorcross motorcycles made in Austria Europe. Somehow the Chinese have started to copy these. I dont know the complete story but KTM is trying to stop China clones.. Good-Luck

In the next few years I may buy a new 26M and I would like to buy a American made motor. Good-luck trying to find one.

Yes, yes, just kidding. But, that wall going up across our southern border is ALREADY causing labor problems in Southern California. If the Chinese can knock-off Yamaha outboards, they can surely knock off a MacGregor...The only protection Roger has is shipping costs..
