Thought i'd better embellish my request.

I need a sail cover and have no 'off the shelf' availability here in the Highlands of Scotland. My best bet is to have one made and I thought I'd ask the 'board' for dimensions of the ones already in use.

Appreciate a response if poss.

Cheers
Gerry

Dont have an X but if I did I would measure it myself. Find some Cheap discarded cloth and make a pattern . I would add a pocket inside for the mainsheet tail to go as well as any extra Vang tail .

If you're thinking of having one made, you should also inquire as what it would cost to purchase one from one of the vendors connected with this site. You then could compare the price of one custom made at home, and one shipped from the states (cost + shipping). If the price is drastically different, you would then have an easy decision. It's worth the investment in time.

Gerry,

A sailcover is pretty much a stock item, usually sold to fit a certain length of boom ... 10 feet long for the 26X. On-line sources for generic sail covers might include Cabelas.com and Defender.com. I don't even have a sail cover, but I'd look closely to the guys at SofTopper.com (an advertiser here - click "accessory products") if I wanted to buy one.

You might also contact any of our advertising dealers, Boats-4-Sail, Kelly-Hansen or Blue Water Yachts. Just guessing that one of them might take your credit card and ship one across the pond.

And the folks at SailRite make a nice kit if you've got a do-it-yourself gene (or a very handy Admiral)....

Having said that, I bought mine here:

http://www.softopper.com/products_boating.html

Good quality items, reasonable price, fast shipping. Current price for a cover is $149 - that's only about £75 for you (ex shipping). I also have the bimini and carpets from him, and the latter are especially nice. The owner frequents this place as Moondance, but hasn't posted since September '06.

Try CJ Marine Chichester, for sail cover (www.cjmarine.co.uk), they definitely supply an in boom zipped sail catcher with lazyjacks. which I have seen on many Macs, they also do all the other canvas items such as dodgers, sprayhoods, full cockpit enclosures etc for 26X/M

Steph

How do you get all these great deals :?:
I am looking at 6g's for a full enclosure, and about 350 for a sail cover.

I wish I had your shopping skills. :|

I just posted a new thread on carpeting etc. loking for the supplier for come carpeting etc. Believe it or not I found it in a post on this thread from everybody'sfavorite uncle on this site...Admiral KMclemore...I mean he does look a little "unclely" doesn't he! The site was "softopper" and I have resaved it. So please disregard my new thread unless you know where I can get fitted cushion covers for a 26X Thanks...Uncle.
