A couple years ago I went out of MDR in the Mac to watch the fireworks show. I couldnt believe the amount of boats and the ramp area was absolutely filled with trailers and boats. and I ended up taking the Mac out of the water going back into the mast up storage and watched from there.

That worked great as the show wasnt but a few hundred yards away.

Lots of people have their boats in the mast up and maybe we can all meet and do a BBQ, maybe sail in the afternoon but get back by 2 so as not to be involved in the mess. Go back into mastup and cook dinner. Those that are not in the mast up we can let you and your boat in and can join us.

We can also use dinghy's to go out and watch the show if we wanted to get closer. Any ideas? any thoughts? anyone want to do this? I will be down there for sure but if not much interest I wont be taking the boat out. I may just put the dinghy in to run around some in the harbour. But Ill be there till about midnight.

another option would be to rent slips the sunday before and we can be
pretty close to the fireworks. I think getting a slip tuesday or wed wouldnt
be too easy. But Im up for any ideas...

We're working the logistics of a Wednesday trip. 50/50 chance we can make it. We'll know more the closer it gets.

Mike, I am almost 100% sure that Molly and I will be there. We will be heading for a honeymoon tour around Catalina on the 25th and plan to be back in MDR on roughly the 1st. So we will probably just grab a guest slip through the 4th. The only thing that would hold us back is if we are just tired of the boat by then, but I think we should be good to go...

I'll regretfully not make SoCal for July 4th shindig, as I already have plans for NorCal. :(

However, I have 'standing orders' from my Son to bring the boat down sometime in August, and to provide nautical memories for my 2 grandkids. A trailerable powersailer ... ain't it great~!!! 8)

ahh frank we think your just computer generated. just add fill on this board. do you have a brother named H.A.L.?....F.R.A.N.K.

Did everyone know that if you move every letter in H.A.L. up one letter in the alphabet it spells.....I.B.M.. F.R.A.N.K comes out to M.I.C.R.O.S.OF.T. if you do the same thing. Purty smart right???

Well Frank someday we will get to see you.

Hope you can make it Phil. I checked your Boat Sunday and its ok.

Thanks Mike

Hello Mike, I think that sounds great. 8) I can't commit 100% now, but I deffinitely think it is a good idea. I will comment again in the next few days.

I called Mike Inmon, and he said that he will be there - probably wih his crew too, as they will have just returned from (I think) the San Diego - Ensenada race. He wants to go and float out in the Main Channel to become a part of the solidly-packed boats watching the fireworks. He says he doesn't mind bumping into all of the boats - and that everyone just pushes off with legs etc. Yeah, that's easy to say when you are a boat dealer and have the ability to fix all of the scratches & dents.

I may not bring our boat down, because I still haven't concvinced Diane to spend the 4th of July day sailing. If we do go out, we'll be on the trailer when the show starts. But we will definitely be there for the BBQ and fireworks!
