Just got a Mac19

Hello Folks!
I just picked up a 1994 Mac19 in great shape and was wondering if anyone might be able to help me with a few issues that have come up?
I realize that there are almost no 19 owners in the group, but I'll give it a try:
The boat was equipped with the motor (Nissan 40 hp) connected to the tiller with a stick to turn the rudders and motor together. Does this really make the boat more maneuverable, since the Mac19 videos and manual
never show this?
Does anyone know of a bimini model specific to this boat? There are zillions of bimini makers out there, but they rely on your measurements to make it fit right. What height to clear the backstay and boom, length, width?

Ahoy Captain John
There is a "Venture Forum" for the older boats in the Forum Index but the Main Board (here) is a good place to ask questions like this since it get the most visibility...
[mod]Ill bump this thread over to the Venture Board once it is played out with answers....[/mod]

Welcome aboard John.
The

make quite the sailboat.... what with their tall mast, 3 headsails, wheel steering, and more hardware than the Titanic

Welcome Captain John
I have a '93

that the wife and I just love. To answer your

's alot of

owners have tried to hook up the rudders and motor together for better control when powering it sounds like the PO found a way. as for the bimini I have one but I have to lower it when I sail as it is quite tall and the backstay rubs on the rear of the bimini, but we do very little sailing these days as the wife and I both enjoy fishing so most times we leave the mast at home. Maybe if the bimini was lower it might clear, anyway I guess that's not much help. Maybe John (Highlander) has more info, he also has a

. Enjoy this forum there's lots of info even though it's mostly about the 26's, their all jealous of our

anyway

Hello Captain John
keep it quiet, but all of the 26X owners are dead jealous of us

'rs, because we are faster (because of the second black stripe around the deck), easier to sail singlehanded, much better looking and far easier to keep on your driveway at home.
Beene himself has been receiving therapy for his envy, and I understand that one of the other 26x bulletin boards has arranged "Anonymous" user groups - you know, "My name is Stan, and I have a

". After all - one of the biggest diffiulties in overcoming any inadequacy is admitting that you have a problem in the first place.
.... and compared to those of us lucky enough to sail a

, people with an

surely do.....

I only signed up for that due to fact that the nurses take

Boat more maneuverable if you have rudders up.I have independent control, for motor and rudders. For motor I use "Easy Stick" Boat very maneuverable ,very important for in out marina

I've never seen a 19 but in pictures. But from this shot I'd advise not standing to gybe.
Also, cool!

You know who this guy is, don't you......
Standing to gybe is for girlies - that's why the

is a chilled out boat for REAL men like John! Now,if he had got his second handkerchief up the bowsprit, you would be eating his wake!
dig the cute little furling staysail just behind his head btw
