Not an owner yet but this may be the year. I posted some questions last year and you guys were great. I'm going to see if I can swing it $ this year. My son and I took sailing lessons in the summer and had a blast. The strong cdn dollar has reduced the price of the 26M on par with US prices and noticed that it was just under 20K at Dowsar at the show. Of course there is still that dreaded freight cost which I could avoid if I get it from Bill or K-H. But then I'm looking at a 9-10 hr drive to Wisc. or Mass.(R.I?) and then back. At the show (on Sunday) when I mentioned about the etech being offered by the factory, one of the guys said that he didn't hear anything official yet. Although I just read Mike's post so I'LL ask again when I'm there later this week. How is Dowsar as a dealer? When pricing an etech 60 saltwater at the evinrude exhibit they quoted 8100 with prop and control and about 500 installation. How does that sound? Of course if the Cdn $ was to spike again to US1.10 then I would definitely be going for that 9hr drive.

Dreamer,

Welcome. I've read posts where Americans buying Canadian weren't able to get warranty service on products. [ I think it was motors ]. Make sure you'll be covered going your way. And hold out for the E-tec.

Good Hunting :)

20K i wish 8) by the time I put the motor on I am not going to see much change from 60K here in OZ even with a strong aussie to us dollar ratio. Take the plunge I thought of waiting a bit longer but heck I could be hit by a bus tomorrow, the wife can retire 5 years later to pay for it. Why should I be the only one to have to work till I am 60 :D

With Xs still asking 60+K here I figure I can always sell my M for a profit or at least my money back. How those poor blokes ever bought a boat back then with a 2 to 1 exchange rate I'll never know.

I know the 8 week wait now for delivery is going to kill me.

Regards
Kadet

Ops forgot the important bit. ETEC 60 here is $8800 Australian fitted that's about $7500 Canadian and as BRP are a Canadian company your price seems a bit high. But I suppose it depends on the market as there are few Evinrude dealers here all competing for business...

Kadet congrats on your new boat, like the name. When I go back to the boat show on Thursday I'll have more time to ask around about etech prices. Highlander, 90 days for delivery eh? Early May woud give me some time to practice before summer holidays. When do you guys in southern Ontario usually put your boats in the water?

Highlander, I'll be sure to mention your name tomorrow. Since you talk to the owner has he mentioned anything about the factory offering etecs?
