Any suggestions on where to put water deck fill?
I'm putting in a pressure water system and have installed the new tap, pump, and located the Plastimo water tank under the aft berth. I also want to run the 1.5" fill hose to a deck fill. I'm thinking given the location of the plastimo tank that somewhere on the transom would be best. Has anyone done this? and if so, what did you find to be the best location?

I'm not sure if you have an X or an M. I found a description on the Mods page under water systems for installing a water tank deck fill on an X a few years ago. I was interested in doing the same thing, and the recommended approach worked well for me. The fill is installed on the starboard gunnel, just aft of the cabin. The fill hose can be routed into the storage cabinet in the head, and then down into the bilge area under the king berth. I put my tank on the port side, just in front of the galley. It was a bit like wrestling an anaconda in a broom closet, but I managed to get that hose where it needed to go. If you have an M, I doubt if this mod would work. I expect the M owners have found a good way to install a deck fill. Good luck.

I forgot to mention I have a 2004 M.. I'm just a little leary about drilling holes and before I do I would like to find the best and "easiest" spot. What I mean by "easiest" is .. I just installed an XM antenna on the aft starboard stantion.. drilled a hole and mounted a cable connector .. that was no problem .. but .. trying to snake the coax cable for the antenna through all of that styrofoam on the inside of the boat was pretty tough.

cpost : You should consider going back and resetting your profile. It sure helps those who are trying to help YOU if we know what year boat your sailing and with what motor and size etc.
There is believe it or not numerous differences between these boat as similar as they may appear. Those difference can make a difference in the answer you get and if it will be appropriate to your situation. There are even differences between the X's let alone the M's of which there are two as well.

Deck Fill installation
Craig, I believe you have a 26M. I cut a hole in the top of my 26X’s aft port gunnel just behind the aft stanchion. (Directly across from where you recently installed a CableCam Waterproof Through-Deck fitting for your Terk XM radio antenna)
In this new hole I installed a “Push-Up Deck Fill”. Try the West Marine model 5324835. From the deck fill I ran a water hose down between the liner and the hull until the water hose was in the bilge. I cut the hose inside the bilge and installed a 90 degree elbow. I connected a new hose to the other end of the 90-degree elbow and ran the hose forward to where I had installed the flexible water bladder inside the boat. Remember to use two stainless steel hose clamps at each connection and mount them in apposing directions. All parts are neatly out-of-the-way.
This is a clean installation in that you cannot see the hose or the connection inside the boat unless you are looking for it inside the bilge.
If you have questions, send me another PM.
Fair winds,
Luke

Re: Any suggestions on where to put water deck fill?
I am planning to install a pressure water system in my X. I only plan on putting it at the gally sink and haveing the fill located at the top of the sink counter with a ridgid 15 gal. tank under.
My thoughts are, 1) close to tank 2) no drilling in hull 3) much shorter hose and cleaner. My feelings are the less material, cleaner the line and no chance of seawater getting thru a seal. Need a hose anyways so 3 steps down the companionway won't be a pain.
The fauct is the one from West marine with the pump for $76. It's not a self primeing pump but if tank is installed right should be no problem and has low volume. I will have a backup hand pump just in case.
The tank will hold 15 gals.
This puts 120 lbs on Port side but I just installed two 125 amp batteries that are forward of Starboard seat to offset the weight.
The coolers are also on Starboard side with Starter battery in original location Port side.
This should balance the boat out well and add weight to the bow that I need.

You should update it with your boat info, too, since this is very helpful when we answer questions or discuss your boat.cpost wrote:Thanks for all the great ideas.. This forum is the best! I also finally updated my profile(I kept forgetting to do that)
In order to get that to show up under your name here in the forum you should add it to your "Location" field like this:
Location: Ambler, PA . . . . . . "Miss Tecumseh" . . . 1998 26X w/ Tohatsu 50 . . . . MACX2018A898
Please include your year, model, serial and motor for the best help. Your home port and boat name could also be added if you like.
I used periods and spaces between things to make mine show up properly, as do some other folks, since the Location field will truncate anything over one space. See the profiles of the other folks who've posted above for additional suggestions on formatting.

Yep, me too. I hold 14 gallons, so I don't fill that often... bringing a hose into the cabin isn't a big deal. My fill is under the edge of the forward dinette seat.eric3a wrote:I had my deck fill put.... Under deck!
Didn't want a long hose going up to the deck, and I am perfectly fine using a hose inside the cabin.
So my fill is underneath the triangle berth in the bow.
