water tank& pump

This 15 gallon water tank fits against the hull inside the gallet storage compartment. It is only about 10" wide so there is still plenty of room for the inserts to go back in and still store pots and pans inside the small door. The tank feeds an on-demand, low current draw, 12 v water pump. The pump automatically activates when pressure drops after the faucet is turned on. I use two kitchen-type spray nozzles, one in the galley and one in the head for quick showers. The pump cost about $35 and the tank about $30 from J.C. Whitney automotive supply catalog, or you can pay 2-3 times that amount at any marine retailer. I installed a plywood floor in the starage compartment in order to strap the tank down securely. The weight of the water tank on the port side will be offset by a blackwater storage tank and all the other food stores on the starboard side, and I plan to move the batteries into the bow. The port for filling the tank is in the side of the storage compartment so I didn't have to make any thru-hull cuts.

I highly suggest this relatively cheap modification! We added an electric faucet (small pump in-line) controlled at the faucet by a turn knob, not by a button. The button ones mean you have to hold the button down, where the knob one works just like ...

I replaced the starboard water tank with a better one (flexible type) which is now located below the cooler chest. The filling pipe goes below the headroom through the closet in the headroom and up on deck. You see the filling fitting on the picture....
