This shows a conduit above the galley on the port side which is used for bringing wires from the upper to the lower parts of the boat, or vice-versa. My first guess was to drill hole (A) which is a two-inch hole. I soon found that the center drill guide part, which sticks out past the hole saw part, drilled into some kind of support running down the center of the conduit. Oooppss! No problem - just cover it with a blank white plastic cover. It was an important lesson though, as it allowed me to figure out what it was like inside the conduit.

The support runs through the center, but doesn't reach all the way to the edges or to the bottom. So you want to drill your holes close along the sides or bottom. Doing this, you shouldn't hit anything. Next I drilled one-inch holes (B) near the top along the side, and in the center along the bottom. These I use to guide all the neccessary wires: main battery power to front panel, bow light to front panel, VHF antenna to ceiling to through-hull, etc.
