I added skegs to my 26M to help with stability when motoring, not as good as having the rudders down but work very well in shallow water, even under sail with dagger board up light wind. I used 2 x 4 foam board epoxed over seems to be holding up . If I were to do it again I would try making them a little thinner more in the shape of the rudder. I lost about 1/2 MPH on the top
speed, but that could just be water or wind . So not much change.
