Easy mod for easy front hatch operation
- Boat Type: Grapevine, TX, MacGregor 26S, Boat Type
2 things - a spring and a self-locking wing nut. The latter is not easy to find - I had to order off Amazon. The spring was in my inventory of spares. I would imagine one could be found at your local big box. Get stainless steel if possible, of course.
This allows the user to pull down and rotate the latch into position, releasing it to hold the latch securely in place. Once the wing nut is adjusted properly, it is not necessary to adjust it further. Road-tested.
This has the added advantage of preventing the latch from inadvertently rotating into the latched position.
