My First Mod! Stern Berth Lighting
- Boat Type: MacGregor 26X, Boat Type
Hello there! We recently acquired ‘Courageous’ and have found the forum of tremendous benefit.
So here’s my very first modification: lighting for the stern berth/storage area on our 26X. I ran low voltage wire from the battery compartment to the transom, then used a stick-on lighting tape to run it forward along the port side of the low-end of the ceiling, across behind the companionway ladder, and back to the stern the starboard side.

For good measure I also installed a lighted switch and fuse for it at the bottom of the battery compartment—it was a convenient place to put it and easy to wire up.
Pro Tip: Don't have the battery compartment switch facing starboard; instead, have it facing aft from the rear of the battery compartment. There's nothing wrong with the way I did it, except that nearly every time I go below I accidentally turn it off with my knee or my foot!

Light in the headroomLighting - - December 1, 2019
I placed it over the hole closed by the plate hiding the winch bolts. The main problem here was to route the wiring to the panel. Just now there is no separat switch besides that at the light itself. Published by: MS Classifieds
