I never sleep on the dinette table location in my 26X so I enlarged the dinette table and created some space for storage (I missed a nav station drawer). The table is 38.5" (fore/aft) x 34.5" (port/starboard) x 2.38" deep. The original table is 1.125" deep, so the table is 1.25" higher which feels better for adults. Top and bottom surfaces are made of hardboard which results in more than 2" useable storage inside the table. Reinforcement ribs inside the table are strategically placed to enable storage of full-size chart books and my serving TV trays. A nice location for board games, cards, books, etc (the stuff you store in a nav station). The area to starboard of the table is an open 'catch-all' shelf that is 2.5" wide forward and 7" wide aft, 1.62" deep. The table uses the (2) factory bolt on the starboard edge and is supported midship with narrow Sterilite drawers. There are wood dowels in the Sterilite frame corners to support the load. A bungy is under the midship edge to hang damp dishtowels. This was my prototype and only made from pine - I got lazy and am still using it 7 years later. As Bob Bitchin says in his book, 'Quit playing with the boat and let's go sailing'.
