Aft Berth Reading Lights

These halogen reading lights (one on each side) provide ample
light into the rear berth. There was some concern that we might
bump our heads on the port side light while getting in and out
of the berth, this has not been a problem (the light folds up
mostly out of the way). The wire for the port side light wasn't
too difficult, though I did end up having to drill a couple of extra
1" holes (which were then covered with plastic plugs) to fish the
wire through. The starboard side was a different story. I had a
wire run to the fan on that side (mounted just like the one
pictured here), and was hoping to just tie into that wire, since
the light was located just a few feet from the fan. But I found
that, in our boat at least, there was virtually no clearance
between the top of the cabin liner and the bottom surface of the
deck... I could not get a wire through here (this was not the case
on the port side though). I ended up having to go through the
head compartment, then into the aft berth from there. The wire
is barely visible if you look for it.

This picture shows the mount for the anchor light and windvane. We didn't have a mast cap, so I used a piece of plexiglass (B) that I mounted on the brackets that the backstay attaches to. I picked plexiglass because it was handy, and it doesn't stan...

I placed it over the hole closed by the plate hiding the winch bolts. The main problem here was to route the wiring to the panel. Just now there is no separat switch besides that at the light itself. Published by: MS Classifieds
