Steaming light (mast) Standoff

The mast light (for steaming) on my "new" 1982 MacGregor was mounted directly to the face of the mast. Obviously, the plastic Perko cover was cracked, there was a buildup of RTV/5200/Caulk (as yet unidentified) which rivaled the modelers rendition of the blob for the movie, and finally very little of the two "outboard" mounted screws actually made contact with the mast. I bought a piece of oak 2x2x18", cut it in half and laminated it together. Then cut it to 3x3x1.25".

A 3" hole saw will give you a perfect fit around the mast. use a drill press and leave approximately 1/2"from the mast to the front of the base.

Cote with Cetol add screw holes a hole for the light socket and affix to the mast. I will add a finished product collage when I am able to get the piece permanently affixed to the mast. I have test fit and varnished the standoff, I just haven't had time to make it permanent.

I placed it over the hole closed by the plate hiding the winch bolts. The main problem here was to route the wiring to the panel. Just now there is no separat switch besides that at the light itself. Published by: MS Classifieds
