Rear Speakers

We figured out a way to put speakers in the cockpit area (though my hat goes off to the guy that thought of mounting them in the pedestal, I hadn't thought of that). Our option was to use small box speakers (such as from Radio Shack) and screw a small handle to the top of them, so that they can then be hung from a webbing strap from the railing at the front of the cockpit. That way, you get both speakers pointing toward you, and therefore, good stereo separation. When we are done with them, we unclip them and bring them down below, which is nice because we then get even better sound down below (see front speaker modification). We have also glued the hook side of velcro to the bottom of the speaker so that when we set them on the seats or carpeting below, they stay in place. Note carpeting in the cockpit area - this is indoor/outdoor, with "dry-deck" (available from West Marine) under it to allow drainage.
