Trailerable Water Tank

Published date: December 14, 2003
  • Boat Type: Boat Type

This modification was inspired by my wife who doesn't like treated or stale water... and me who doesn't like to haul 5 gallon jugs full of water onto the boat.

The 9 gallon tank is suspended on the Starboard side in the Aft sleeping berth supported by a gas tank strap and some 3M 5200 Sealant and sitting on the small ledge. The white pipe leads from the water inlet (which I installed behind the Genoa track) , the clear striped pipe with the strainer leads to the pump that leads to the electric faucets. The clear pipe at the bottom has a valve to drain the water to a thru-hull in back of the boat. So basically I fill it for the day we go out (sometimes adding some ice cubes), then drain the rest at the end of the voyage.. always fresh water.

**** Added Note: I will be moving the fill tube (large white tube) higher near the top because the tank will not fill all the way where the factory hole is... that darned gravity thing again.

I highly suggest this relatively cheap modification! We added an electric faucet (small pump in-line) controlled at the faucet by a turn knob, not by a button. The button ones mean you have to hold the button down, where the knob one works just like ...

I replaced the starboard water tank with a better one (flexible type) which is now located below the cooler chest. The filling pipe goes below the headroom through the closet in the headroom and up on deck. You see the filling fitting on the picture....
