Wheel Steering Conversion

I never enjoyed docking with two tillers, a shifter, and less than three hands. So a steering wheel conversion seemed like a good solution. Here's what I opted do do:

1) Upgraded my tiller outboard to a different one with remote. Folks who already have remote motors are one step ahead of where I started.

2) Installed a factory pedestal setup from a Macgregor 26M. This was mostly stock stuff from the Macgregor factory, except for a reinforcing plate that was made locally for under the cockpit floor.

3) Added a dual cable rack and pinion steering system -- with one cable to control the motor and the other for the rudders. Again, all off-the-shelf components here -- except for the rudder control arms. I made these from stainless railing supplies to match the rudder movement up with the steering cable.

Seems to work quite well so far, and it provides the linkage between the rudders and motor the M19 sorely missed.

Next up, a helm seat..
