Custom built bow roller

Published date: June 16, 2007

After dragging the anchor several times decided we needed a better one but the dinky standard bow roller was not up to it.
I fabricated the setup in the photo and installed as big a plate under the deck as I could fit. Just to make sure installed another strut to the existing bolt holding the headstay bracket as there is a fair bit of overhang.
The no3 SARCA is a bit oversize for a Mac but I can now sleep without worry.
By drilling a hole in the shaft of the sand anchor it also fits and is still used in river situations where losing it is not a problem.

I had a U-bolt installed for the other end of the anchor line. Not hard, Just take out the carpet at the end of the V-berth and remove the foam. This will hold the end of the anchor line if it gets loose. Published by: James V
