Another way of a popular modification to the Helmsmans seat without losing the aesthetics.
Cut seat using a thin cutting blade on a 4" angle grinder, (easier than it looks) I actually did mine in situ. I then drilled and rivetted a piano hinge,painted it white and violla, when its in the down position you can't even tell it's been modified
