Re: 1992 Mac 26 S (Classic)
Good Questions! I'm an X-Hobie Cat'er that moved to the mono-hull so my kids could sail with me. My crew is my beautiful wife, six year old daughter, and five year old son. My wife and daughter love riding the bow. My son loves fishing for sharks (...in lake lewisville....with a jib sheet :) ). All ...

1992 Mac 26 S (Classic)
I bought my boat as a blank slate. I started with a new Genoa and a lot of new running rigging. I've been through two new tillers (broke the first one during installation because i'm a dork - DOH). I am currently running new lights and wires now and am waiting to use my new cushion covers throughout...

Re: How to load boat onto trailer without power
I'm a trailer guy who wishes he had a slip. I grew up with power boats...mostly ski boats and fishing boats in the 20 foot plus/minus range. So, getting the boat on the trailer isn't so bad. It's the set up and tear down of the mast and gear that get my time. I started sailing Hobie Cats and steppin...

Re: New potential owner - many questions
I love the sailing experience I am getting from my 92 Mac 26S !!! I raced Hobies for a few years, but that's a totally different breed of sailing and sailors. Not better or worse, just different. I bought this fairly rough, used monohull and have used it as my personal test bed for sails, electronic...

Re: Plumbing of the cockpit drain (26s)
WOW. I didn't know the lazarette was white inside. My plumbing looks that way, but I can tell the original owner never cleaned the lazarette. Hopefully, the next owner won't be able to say the same thing about me. :) I really liked the PVC mod as well. Very cool. I may have to follow your example HG...

Re: Newbie needs advice on 26S
Dave B is absolutely correct about the genoa and Louis is correct about the fuel. I have the 150 Genoa and generally run with it furled and with no main. This keeps it fairly quick and comfortable for the wife and kids. When I have my Hobie buddies on board with life jackets on, we'll run the main a...

Re: Roller Furling Installation
I can second the comments above...not necessarily on model...but on recommending the CDI Furler.
This is probably the best piece of equiment that came with my old 92 Mac 26 when I bought it. I downloaded a user manual from the website and have used it every single sail.

Re: Newbie needs advice on 26S
I have a 1992 Mac 26S. I bought it early last year. Here is a list of things I've had to work on as a result of buying an older boat. Trailer Work: new guide posts, lights, tongue jack, bunk boards, rubber accessories (required for my boat) Sail Work: new genoa (required for my boat) Running RIgging...

It drafts almost exactly 6 inches deeper than the water near that little island in that awesome little cove in that wonderful lake last weekend.

Re: LED Cabin Light Conversion
my boat came with basically nothing....1992 '26. the bow and stern work, but their wires conduct through a good deal of rust. there are virtually no working interior lights at all. my wife and I want to be able to camp on the boat with the kids in the cooler weather (summers reach 206 degrees fahren...

Re: Spinnaker Performance
It's assymetric. I think I understand. I have a mental picture of the sail as in use. This leads to some questions. 1. Did you mean that the tack would be attached to the pulpit? I'm thinking you mean to attach it where the mast normally pins during trailering. I understand that sheets would need to...

Re: Spinnaker Performance
I purchased a '92 Mac 26 Classic last year. It came with a beautiful spinnaker rig that appears to have very little use or age on it... and the boat, came with extra halyards, a chute, and a whisker pole, so it is my assumption that I have all the required gear... But my problem (one of many i'm sur...

You said, "The nice thing is that the wench will hold it for you while you double check the stays, etc. for kinks."
Man, my crew would kill me if I referred to her that way. giggle

Stay Sail
Hey Guys and Gals I have a '92 Mac 26. I've had it about a year. It came with a brand new Genoa (about a 150) and a very old main. My beautiful wife and two fantastic young kiddos (4 and 5 years old) like a smooth sail. So, I generally don't even raise the main or attach the boom. I just run that Ge...
