Removing the center board on 1996 26X
I am able to access the entire center board on my 26X. The dual axle trailer has that open. I have a broken cable and need to drop the board and fix the cable. Looking under I see the pivot pin. Where is the bolt and nut that I pull to drop the board? Or better yet, can someone post the correct proc...

Re: Modified boom to roll main sail & blog.
Seahouse's post about main rolling is not the same concept as what I did. Our mod does not allow rotation of the sail when it's set and being used. It allows releasing it, rolling it up to any desired reef point, and then locking it back in place. One person with lines fed aft can reef from the cock...

Re: Modified boom to roll main sail & blog.
:macx: After a very busy week, I finally get a chance to update the ongoing mods and repairs. Let me deal with some of the comments and thanks to everyone that did comment. I got a personal email asking for more info on the boom mod but when I tried to respond it was blocked by some spam blocker tha...

Modified boom to roll main sail & blog.
:macx: Well finally the weather broke here in Erie, Pa. Sometimes it seems we never see the sun! I purchased this used 26X last fall and finally am getting around to making mods that are important to me. For years I had a "Shark" by Hinterhauler. It had a rolling boom for reefing the main ...

Liquid Roller solves boat not going up against chock.
I am so pleased. I was having a hard time getting the 26X to seat up against the bow chock on the trailer. As explained elsewhere in this forum there is a logical reason for it and most solved it just by doing the Macgregor bump. My bottom was filthy and I bought a can of Liquid Rollers and what an ...

Re: Autohelm 3000?
Thanks for getting back to me about this. The sizes will be helpful! Yeah, Erie, I am out of town at the moment and enjoying some tropical weather while Erie goes through it's winter routine! I am the only 26X that I have seen so far in Erie. There is one older 26S that I am aware of. I called Rayma...

Re: Autohelm 3000?
I hope it is ok to tag along on this post. I just purchased a used ST3000 and it looks like it's in brand new condition. Unfortunately it did not have the pulley that mounts behind the wheel. Does anyone know of a used one or where I can get a new one? Also, from the posts, does that mean that it do...

Re: steering linkage
Thanks for the picture Hamin. I have a different setup. I have a 1996 26X but for some reason my pushrod from the cable comes out astern of the rudder linkage rod. If you want I can post a picture of it. I think if I put the mounting bracket with the pin where the motor rod is attached when disconne...

26X Main sheet placement
We are still sorting out things on our newly aquired 1996 26X. Today we sorted out things in the cabin and tested the motor. As info we bought this from a camper dealer and he admitted he knew nothing about sailing. So our adventure starts with us learning from scratch! My previous boat, a 24' Shark...

Centerboard- Need help
I have never owned a MacGregor before. We purchased this 1996 26X boat used from a person who sells campers but really knew nothing about sail boats by his own confession. The boat appears to be in fairly good condition. When we got it home and went to use it, we can not find the control line for th...

Re: Best Autopilot for 1996 26X
Ok. The comments for the "human" pilot noted but requires too much maintenance!
Ok on the Wheel Pilots.
Anyone have one that is in good order for sale? (is that allowed to be asked here?)

Thanks for a nice idea and great map! I have posted some things for info around the Erie Pennsylvania Harbor, Presque Isle, and east of Erie on Lake Erie.

Best Autopilot for 1996 26X
So what is everyone's consensus what the best autopilot to look for (used) would be for the 1996 26X
I just bought a used 26X and always have a AP to assist with single handing.

Sparks
