Mine broke also, I found a rubber cork and jammed it in the hole (and removed the sensor) . I like your fix better.

Fuse holder I would recommend is Radio Shack's mini blade inline fuse holder. It has a nice little rubber cap that seals it up even.

I for one am not a fan of the twist lock connectors for a boat. I've had 3 kinds of outlets at difference marinas, normal 120V 3 wire grounded polarized outlet with GFCI. - Very easy to just run a heavy duty outdoor power cord to the boat, fish it through the gap at the top of the companionway hatch...
