Re: 26x with 8hp engine... 26XC??
my old Tohatsu 50 2 stroke gets around 3-4 mpg at 5 to 6 mph, although I never really measured it too much. The new modern 2 strokes are about the same efficiency as a 4 stroke. A small 4 stroke is the way to go for fuel savings. I would also expect it to be around 10 mpg. Madd mike outfitted his ma...

Mine broke also, I found a rubber cork and jammed it in the hole (and removed the sensor) . I like your fix better.

Time to sell the boat.
I just listed my 97 26X for sale after all these years. I just wasn't using it much anymore (the slip is a 90 minute drive each way from the house, and I really don't seem to find the time anytmore with the new job. Hoepfully it will bring as much joy to a new owner as it has brought me over the yea...

Re: One hole too many!
Fuse holder I would recommend is Radio Shack's mini blade inline fuse holder. It has a nice little rubber cap that seals it up even.

Re: Small generators
I for one am not a fan of the twist lock connectors for a boat. I've had 3 kinds of outlets at difference marinas, normal 120V 3 wire grounded polarized outlet with GFCI. - Very easy to just run a heavy duty outdoor power cord to the boat, fish it through the gap at the top of the companionway hatch...

Re: Small generators
Thanks Dave, I'll check out Northern. Regarding noise levels, the first one I bought is very quiet and has a low muted sort of sound. Haven't run the new one yet, but looks identical except it is blue instead of red. Might want to look at the muffler to make sure it is not loose or cracked. I bought...

Re: Small generators
Dave, Where did you get the little 1200 watt generator? I just bought a 2nd little Chinese 800-1000 watt 2 stroke for around 70 dollars on sale at Harbor Freight. I bought the first one about 6 years ago for just under 200 dollars. It is very quiet but it sounded like it was underpowered to run a wi...

Re: What Might YOU think is important to have on board ..
I thought the joke went... What's a henwiegh? about 5 lbs.
what's a Grecian urn? about 5 bucks an hour.
Johnny Carson made people laugh, but it sure wasn't the material. I think it was just because he was easy to like.

Re: What Might YOU think is important to have on board ..
Here was a list I put together on a thread in 2005. Postby craiglaforce » Fri Jan 14, 2005 6:40 pm I don't have a list, but I'll take a shot at a start. Motor: Spare prop, nut and thrust washer. Pull start rope and handle, water pump, spark plugs, anti-sieze for the plugs, 2 stroke oil, spare primer...
