Re: Photobucket breaking images with 'ransom' demand

I use imgur.com You have to make your imgur post "public" for people on the internet (like here) to be able to see it, but it's simple once you figure it out. Not a lot of annoying advertising either. :)

Re: Pop top cabin connection to mast

:D My dock is floating (like yours), however there is a substantial puddle to walk through to get to my dock. On the bright side, the lake has come down a couple inches in that last few days and is forecast to continue coming down. 8) Perfect day to sail, Tom - south wind and the lake is flat. I'll ...

Re: Pop top cabin connection to mast

If it's still unclear, let me know. My 26S is in the water now and I can get more pictures to share. :)

Re: Record water levels in Great Lakes area

I stopped at SouthPoint yesterday looking for a mast. Didn't see one. Lots of cruisers are launched though. With your sails up, you can now beat most of them to the lake - 5 mph speed limit on the bay for power boats until the water goes down. No speed limit for sail boats. :P I checked the conditio...

Re: Great Lakes Water Levels

Yup, it's getting pretty high. I may have to use the State Ramp or yours - "my" ramp may not get steep enough soon enough. :( On another note, they've started dredging the outlet again. Perhaps we won't have to hug the outside of the bend as we enter the lake. If you're interested, t...

Re: Mast cap, anchor light, and Windex

That mast cap/anchor light/Windex doohickey is sweet, Tom. How do I order one for my boat? :P

What Tom said is what I understand. :P

Here's a pretty picture, if you're so inclined:

Re: Great Lakes Water Levels

Tom's right - these shots were taken at Mayer's Marina on the east side of the bay inlet (to the right in the shot of the ramp). He also correctly identified the houses along Lake Road in Webster. :) In the fall, when the water is much lower, I don't recommend using this ramp because my trailer whee...

Re: Great Lakes Water Levels

'm sure you've read or heard folks complaining about Plan 2014 being the cause, but it's just a LOT of rain and snow melt, and it happens every so often. Plan 2014 only increases and decreases the water level by an inch or two, not by feet. The record was set in 1973. Yes, the politicians were quic...

Re: Great Lakes Water Levels

Lake Ontario is now within 1/2 a foot of the all-time high level. Tomfoolery and I sail out of a bay of Lake Ontario and there is some minor flooding in marinas around the bay. Lakeside homeowners on the south shore are concerned about significant erosion with a strong northerly wind. Great Lakes le...

Re: Charge controller

Tom, You'll have to stop by and see what I'm doing for solar - simple and inexpensive. It's a 50W flexible panel I got off Amazon and a charge controller that I've had for years - I don't remember where I got that. It does the job keeping my battery maintained, but that's about it. I don't use much ...

Re: Mac 26S swing keel won't retract, what's wrong!

I too am having the same issue on my recently purchased '95 26S. Apparently, this is a common issue with our older boats. Have you figured out what the issue was, and what corrections did you make? I've temporarily connected a 3:1 block & tackle and was able to move it with great effort, but thi...
