Re: Air conditioner in the laz

I have considered this, but my thought was to only put the condenser coil, compressor and fan motor in the Laz. Effectively cutting the unit in half. That way you only need to cut small holes for the freon lines and fan shaft. But for my application, I think that a RV roof top unit mounted on the fw...

Re: Down wind in strong conditions

Besides the obvious, there are other benefits to the drag line and float set up. I can tell how fast I’m going by the way my float is responding. I use a smallish boat fender and it starts to submerge right about 4.kts not very deep, I also gauge the wake. If I’m making way and it’s 90* to the boat ...

Re: Favourite youtube sailing channels

Atticus and Brickhouse mostly there are other good ones but these are my two favorites. The ones I hate are the ones that insult my intelligence with just T and A scenes with no real content. I think it’s called click bait! If I wanted to see that I would just go to porn sites. Sailboats are what I’...

Gulfport/Biloxi Sailing

Hey everyone, I was thinking about taking my :tat26: to Gulfport from Texas and do a bit of sailing there. I understand that there are several islands there that are fun to visit. Such as ship island and cat island, are there any locals in that area that could give some insight on places to sail and...

Hello
I understand that there were no responses to your post, and I just happened upon it today. I was wondering if you have started the AC install yet? Or maybe finished by now? I like the idea of it. Just curious what specific details you had in mind.

Re: Classics Across the Gulfstream

:D :) :P WOW, You can look up anything on google! Google makes it hard to BS about anything these days. So when the old men are spinning their yarns. Youngsters are looking it up on their phones and sorting the fact from fiction. “Seeing the elephant” is indeed a term that has taken several m...

Re: Charleston / Savannah

A ferry ride out to Fort Sumpter for historical quest is a lot of fun.,We did that a couple months ago. There is a historical church that we attended and toured free, named St. Michaels. It was the most awesome and interesting church I had ever been to. George Washington and Robert E Lee Both worshi...

Re: Classics Across the Gulfstream

From what I have read about the Conch Cruisers, the stories seemed very true to life. So much so that silly mistakes along with gross errors were wrote about with a definite air of honesty. I think I enjoyed it because in most instances it showed me what mistakes to avoid. And more often that not wh...

Re: Classics Across the Gulfstream

Yes that would be Great! I have been scouring the net trying to find as many of those stories as possible. All that I have read so far have been pretty good, and very informative. It has left me asking to question. “Why did they quit”??? Did they just all get to old! From what I have read it sounds ...

Re: Classics Across the Gulfstream

All of this sounds like very good advice. It is in my plan to travel down and do some sailing around the keys in South Florida just to familiarize myself with the area also. I was very interested in the trip that the Conch Crusiers made to the Dry Tortugas via Marquesas Keys. 70 miles seems pretty d...

Re: New Rudder Build for 26S

Ok, I finally got back on the rudder project and have my lumber ready to laminate together. It has been really humid here and I was waiting for it to dry up a bit. https://i.postimg.cc/HrJFqKVb/EBC8-E550-468-B-4-D47-8-A4-C-CF7-C645-B2-C83.jpg As you can see in the photos, all I have done is cut a 1/...

Re: Classics Across the Gulfstream

I can see that I am. The insight into sailing this area is fabulous. I am wanting to trailer my boat down to south Florida and do some exploring. And work my way into becoming a better sailor with a goal of exploring the vast chain of islands. And this knowledge is something that takes years to lear...

Re: Classics Across the Gulfstream

Thank you Chinook for the very good explanation. The ability to motor changes things considerably. The Conch Crusiers went SE from the keys and motored most of the way I have read. Is this area more doable or did they just catch the conditions right like you did on one of your trips?

It could be made really interesting, there are a couple bridges on the lake also! Wait that just went from sailing to work! I’m still thinking about it though!
