Roller Furling Boom
I keep my M26X at mast up storage in Marina Del Rey and noticed another Macgregor recently with a furler system set up in the boom. It appears that when the sail is reefed it rolls up. I have not seen any threads on this and wondered if this is a custom made item. Anyone else out there have one and ...

Restoring dull black
I found a product called PENATROL at Home Depot. It is intended as a paint additive but just painting it on and rubbing with a cloth brings back the original look. I used it on my previous Montgomery 17 which had a green hull. One application usually lasted a season.

Loose back stay
I recently experienced a similar problem, but in my case, I raise the mast each time I go out. When I got back and lowered my mast one of my spreaders just snapped off. Wheelbase and towing (again)
I tow my X with a 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan. It has a 6 cylinder, not sure of the horse power. Maintains 55 all day long. Don't like to get it around 60 though because it starts to sway some. Uphill on long runs I have to get the RPM to around 4000-4500 to keep up the speed. MPG towing is 11. With ou...

Sailing with standard main and jib
I have had my X for just a few months. I can rig in about 20 minutes now, but the one thing I constantly have a problem with is the roller furler. The previous owner never even took his jib out of the sail bag. Now I am considering just taking the furler off and rigging a standard forstay and hankin...
