Re: GMC Motorhome

Re: Time for new bunks
The timber under the carpet on Imagine's trailer bunks started collapsing about 7 years ago, I removed the old beds repainted the steal then replaced the beds with future wood (wood/plastic composite left over from a deck I made) and topped off with a layer of Ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylen...

Re: Macgregors and Moorings
We left 'Imagine' on a dock at Wyee Point Marina Lake Macquarrie for 6 months (ballast in) I was more concerned with keeping the outboard motors out of the water, when we got her home it took 2 weekends to clean the marine life from the hull, the anti-fowled was getting near the end of it's usable l...

Re: Be Careful at Mongold Launch Ramp at Detroit Lake, Orego
I setup on the water, I got sick of dodging power lines and over grown tree branches at some of the maintained ramps we go to here in Australia, at one ramp we almost had the trailer's tires in the water on the ramp to raise the mast, Local Council in their wisdom strung an overhead power line to th...

Re: Hopefully new question on an old topic (mast foam drilli
I bought some PVC pipe and cut teeth on one end similar to a hole saw using a Dremel, it took about an hour to cut through the foam inside 'Imagines' mast, when needed I glued a second section of PVC pipe to the first, when I was all the way through I used the compressor to blow out the cut foam fro...

Re: Hard Dodger
If I was going to make a mold of a hard dodge to glass up, I would make my templates out of wood, secure them to a frame called a strong back then create the outer mold layer using strips of timber, it's a technique called strip plank molding, it's used in canoe and kayak construction and can be cre...

Re: Sewing machines on the cheap - what to look for
I have a 1958 Singer 201P with walking foot, I'm looking to add a bias binding attachment, I'm finding that my hands get really sore after a few hours of adding binding around a job. I find it great for canvas and leather, part of our work involves using an industrial sewing machine also a Singer, t...

When in doubt use a multi-meter across the terminals, saves letting manufacturers smoke out .

Re: tack line for spinnaker...
About 18 Months ago I added a small block under the spinnaker tack with the line going to the cockpit, while I was at it I ran the Chutescoop controls to the cockpit, due to family problems there hasn't been a lot of time for sailing (correction - No time for sailing), I'm still curious how well it ...

Re: single-handing
During a tack I turn upwind keeping the Genoa from the tack that I've been running, after the bow turns and the boom settles I flick the sheet to release from the cleat, pull the opposite genoa sheet through the cleat until I'm happy with the set of the sail, all from the helm seat, the only time I ...

Re: Port Stephens Ramps
Just be careful if you launch in Port Stephens and intend to motor on up to the Myalls.......the bridge is LOWER than your mast on a very high tide!!!........Experience talking here :? Lemon Tree Passage is a good ramp and I haven't had security problems there.....nothing wrong with Soldiers Point ...
