Cushion Covers on eBay

Post by fdeoreo »

hello,

i have no involvement whatsoever with these people but just noticed someone on ebay selling brand new covers for a seemingly reasonable price. not sure if these have been mentioned on our site before. please disregard if so, or if this note isn't allowed please delete it. i was just randomly surfing macgregor 26x and it came up.

FJ,

Welcome aboard and thanks for the eBay lead. In fact, SofToppers is an advertiser here. They're also called BoatBimini, and you'll see their Banner ad as a random pop up. I'm a satisfied customer of their X-boat "carpet kit" .

I like my boatbimini carpets also. Has anyone tried the seat cover replacement kit yet?

Bought the cockpit cushion covers from them. Since I didn't have any on my boat, they also tracked down the foam and had it cut to fit. Excellent product with great customer service. I'd highly recommend them.

Here are my BoatBimini.com carpet and interior cushion covers installed in my boat. Great covers. I went with the (strange as it may seem by the name) lighter Teak color instead of the darker Buckskin shown at their website. I think it coordinates better with the lighter carpets. Of course then we had to sew all new curtains and pillow covers to complete the look. You can also see their wall mount cabin organizers in the vee berth. The third one is in the head.

Lookin pretty spiffy there Duane! But are the covers pet proof? (noticing the pet bowls in your pic) :D

I guess they keep the cost down by using the existing cushions, but as they are thinner than most other sailboats, seems like one could be tempted to use different foam. I guess if you go thicker, it would raise the cost of the covers in addition to the cost of the new foam.

We replaced our foam inside the factory covers a few years back. We stayed with 3" but went to a lot stiffer foam. The new foam does not bottom out like the factory cheapo stuff.

The new covers, which are very pet proof as they are faux leather vinyl instead of fabric, fit perfect over the stiffer foam we had bought.

Back when we decided to do the foam only upgrade I had taken the cushions to a shop for a quote on thicker foam and covers. They wanted over a $1000 to make the set. We opted for foam only from www.foamsweetfoam.com . Now that we have finally changed the covers we have the look and the comfort we wanted.

But of course I now have two more tasks. The new color scheme looks really nice with oak wood tones. At some point I am going to replace the black table with a nice oak one. I also will make another fabric galley front in a color that blends in rather than stands out. I'll probably go with the sunbrella color 'Silver' which is what our full enclosure is made of. It looks very sharp against the white gel coat.

Purchased the interior cushions and they are wonderful...actually fitted right over the existing upholstery so didn't have to fight foam when putting them on. I provided Softopper with the cushion cover for the aft dinette seat ...they only had the older style X cushion. they sent my new seat covers and returned my original cover from which they had made a pattern.

I also ordered the cockpit cushion cover set...and as a favor, they made them for me out of sunbrella...as my cockpit is fully shaded by a full enclosure...I asked for the cockpit covers to be in black sunbrella to match the exterior "white/black" decor...again absolutely great covers!

These are excellent people to deal with!!!!

Duane,

Noticed the dog bowls in your pic. You need to get yourself a "Water Hole" water dish. We got one for our dogs from an RV store and it's designed to give pets water while underway. It's a bowl with a snap-on lid which has a hole in the center. You fill it and even healing the boat 30-35 degrees not a drop of water spills. Works even in the back of a pickup truck under way.

i ordered after i saw Duane's.
went w/ the teak which is the best color IMHO.
i also got the matching carpet.
looks great!
BTW...it includes the portside "square" seat cushion. all interior cushions other than the two beds are included.

Got a nice note from Boat Bimini folks who are sending me samples of the interior cushions referenced above - trying to choose that colour.

Nice 12 hour response time from email.
