Well Whadya Know!

Post by dmac26s »

I've had my MAC 26S since 05', been to this web site many times, think it's great! But I never noticed all the discussion going on with the older MAC's

I always thought, this is a great site, I just wish there was more going on here with the older boats. There's a lot of information here!!! :)

Was I wrong to think this site is mainly for X's and M's?

Yep, you were wrong... :) The X's and M's are plentiful, so the posts reflect that. The older Ventures, (and the S's and the D's)of all sizes were not as popular, and as time passes, some of them wind up all but abandoned. One group is growing, the other dwindling. But there are still plenty of the oldsters around. The 26S, by the way, is a great boat.

True, the vast majority here are powersailors, but many of them have experience with the classics, or the question is universal to sailing. Not too many questions come up that cannot be answered here. Indeed, I can't think of any.

I really enjoy seeing what others have done with their boats, with respect to mods. The mods page here is excellent, I just wish there were more mod posts for the older boats.

You can also find good discussions and mods for older Macs on the forums at http://www.macgregorowners.com/ I read both sites and both have a world of information. -Paul

Yes, I frequent both macgregorowners com and trailersailers com, since before I owned my boat. Those discussion forums helped me to decide to buy my 26S.

I've also been to this site many, many times over the last few years. That's why I say, I feel foolish, because for whatever reason I never noticed the Venture/Macgregor section here.

So I'm real excited to hopefully get some new ideas from a new group of folks. I promise to pay better attention in the future. :)

Oh, I just learned I can't post urls yet! :?
