Another Newbe

Post by Obelix »

On Friday 11th, we took finally posession of our new 2008 :macm: . :)
We are new to sailing, boating and trailering and really appreciate the collective wisdom (humor) at this forum where we were lurking for the last few months.
Being new, we opted for the slower white boat with a 60hp E-Tec.
The boat is still nameless, since the Admiral keeps pondering to find the "RIGHT" name.
For the time being, we are based out of Loch Lomar Marina in San Rafael, were a whole bunch of MAC's is located.

Thank you in advance for answers to the many questions we will most likely be raising.

Welcome aboard skipper!!! I bet you'll be just as happy about your purchase a year from now.
It' a great bunch of people here.
If you can lure someone with a Mac aboard to go out a time or two it's worth all the beer it takes, just my opinion. It'll halve the learning curve.
Almost anything you can imagine has been asked and answered here already, the 'search' feature is a great tool.

Name nominations:
"Average White Boat" ;ahhhh, reminiscing of the years of disco
"Whitey Tightie" ; just funny
"Conjure" , "Conjurer" ; Connie + Jurgen)
"Clorox III" ; ...they had a II, right? "stronger than dirt"

Welcome aboard we got our :macm: the day before Thansgiving 07 and we got 42 days sailing in already. Hope you enjoy yours as much as we do ours. As far as naming your Mac, spend a few days and nights on it first.

How about

Mo' Lasses as in as slow as Molasses

or as in more girls

or mol' asses as in hairy rodent backside,

This is a very versatile name.

if you google puns - there are several sites where you can enter a word and a pun might come up - that is applicable to a boat.

daydreamerbob - in the faster blue hull

any reason why these marinas have scottish place names? Loch Lomond etc.I was passing Loch Lomond (Scotland) last september and there is a huge sign that says "MacGregors landing" now the most famous Macgregor of them all "rob roy" did a fair bit of stealing cattle and general scull duggery around those parts

Thank all of you for welcoming us and the suggestions, but the Admiral didn't think the "Right" name was amongst them

Lobo de Mar,
we got the :macm: in dry storage, but plan to get a guest slip when staying over the weekends. I'm looking forward meeting you and some of the other MAC owners in the marina.
