I was on Longboat Key in November and bike up to Anna Maria Island. They have a huge park with boat ramps, docking, trolly to town and great beaches. All FREE!!!! Google Earth Anna Maria Island the park is on the southern part, Longboat pass and Leffis Key. Great food and a great little fishing village with a drinking problem. Try Star Fish Company, fish market and restaurant simple.

I have reservations at Garrison Bight 5/26 to 6/6 and this will all be a first for me. I have installed a downrigger and new GPS / Sonar so Im looking forward to fish and sail. I didnt think about the bugs (being from New Mexico) so thanks for that info (need netting). Any more tips would be appreciated. thanks Phil V.
