I just bought a 1999, 2000 model :macx: . I think I got a good deal and am already enjoying it. I have sailed 3 times now out of Channel Islands, CA. I have a lot to learn and am looking forward to becoming proficient at sailing.

I went out today single handed for the first time. Winds were about 10Kts with swells of between 3 and 4 feet. I played a little after dropping the sails to drain the ballast and to check the speed on the 50 HP motor. According to the GPS I had an honest 19.3 MPH.

I am enjoying this site and all of the information available here.

Welcome Grey Beard and congratulations both on your purchase and on your first time single handing. 8)

I've also found this site to be an an invaluable source of information. As a relatively new member I've also found that it is also a place to get friendly and genuinely helpful advice!

Happy sailing!!

PS:
Might I suggest that you go to your Profile, and under "Location" add at least the type and year of manufacture of your boat, and maybe make and size of its motor. Adding the geographic location you included in your post can be a help too :)

GB, welcome aboard.
You're near some terrific sailing venues, both the Santa Barbara Channel, as well as the Pacific off Los Angeles. I sailed the Channel Islands several years ago, and look forward to getting down there again this season. Enjoy that 26X ... great choice~!

Dittos from a fellow '99 Mac X owner. A fine boat, and fun to add mods.
