is there any reason why you couldn't use a spinnaker without a pole?

One of the sails that came with our Venture 2-22 is a standard spinnaker. We've never used it due to the hassle of additional lines, the pole, etc. Cumbersome, especially on a 22 footer.

So, would it be feasible to just fly it as gennaker-type sail?

Hmmm......

What are you doing ballast wise to offset that much additional sail? Have you modified the DB and if so how does that effect the DB casing?
