We've used three out of the four choices for water toys behind the mac.
Inner Tube - If you lay flat, rather than sit you will find this can be fun even at mac speeds. A steerable tube would be best. Our's isn't and we miss the extra control. Also one with a open back is much easier to get into from the water than a regular one like ours. This is the simplest water toy, fun for little kids all the way up through adults. Since it's attached to the boat it's the easiest to use as well. The rougher the water the better. It's a good choice when the water gets to rough for the other three or you get too tired.
Kneeboard - The mac is a good kneeboard boat, just slightly slower than what advanced people may want but plenty fast for beginners. Riding a kneeboard takes some skill, in particular getting from the prone start position to the kneeling one can be a challenge as you mess with the strap and still try to hold on. A hint, keep both hands on the rope and use your elbows to lever yourself up to your knees. Once you are up, move to going outside the wake and the doing spins and even rolls.
Wakeboard - The water version of a snow board / skateboard. You stand sideways on it. The mac speed and wake are good for all but the advanced jump and flip crowd. This is the one I have not tried.
Waterskis - In general the mac is too slow for all but beginners.
However, just over a week ago I did go out and ski behind mine. I was on two skis and the boat has plenty of power and punch to pull my 180lbs out, I popped right out with no problem. The ride is just fast enough to stay up on a plane. Lighter people would have a better time. Get the widest skis for the easiest time. I was on a pair of matched slalom skies with the concave bottom. These are easier to control then the usual cheap flat bottom beginner skis. Small kids might be able to ski behind the mac on a single ski, but there is no way an adult could, the boat is too slow.
You will also find that getting the rope back to a person is the water is harder than in a normal ski boat. The mac doesn't circle tight enough. It's easier to use the fly by method. Drive right at the person. Just before you hit them turn to one side then back to the other so you jog around them and end up back on your original course line. This will bring the rope to them.
