Very stupid question re: Wakeboarding (was "waterboarding")

My kids and I do waterboarding with my 150 hp Lund fishing boat (haven't got a Mac yet).

My son explained to me that the higher the waterski post (where you tie the waterski rope) on a boat, the higher you can jump off a wave. Hense the high framing bridge they have over those waterboarding boats.

Now if you could tie up the rope, you know... way up there on the mast (ballast full)... What if...

Do you think the the mast would hold on. Would the boat roll over and... sink !!!

Of course I'm not going to try it or even talk about it to my kids. But I was wandering if someone have these crazy thoughts at nights like I do. Or maybe someone tried it already. Just wandering if he's still alive.

P.S. The full ballast is to create a larger wave for the jump.

Well, what a fun idea!

-The mast may last a while...
-You could defenitly roll the boat on it's side.
-It will not sink but you will make a mess in the cabin.
-Mounting a tow line ahead of the crew may behead one or more of them, also messy.

I would replace the gallows instead. There are some very nice stainless and aluminum examples in the mods section. As long as you are doing the mod you could put a better mast roller, davits, speakers, flag pennants, antennae for VHF-AM/FM Radio-CB-GPS-TV-RADAR, outboard mount, cup holders, stern anchor mount, bait tank, solar panels, a wind generator and cockpit lights up there along with nice handholds. Your rope height would be substantial. The freeboard on a Mac is quite high and the gallows are well above deck height.

It takes about 150 pounds of force, ROM, at mast top to tip the boat over, according the marketing lit. I havent ever tried this.

Waterboarding?? Maybe you can Git Moe on board with this discussion......

Why not connect the ski rope lower on the mast? Doesn't have to be at the masthead. Kind of overkill IMHO. Actually, connecting it to the mast at all is pretty sketchy if you ask me. Those frames on the wakeboarding boats are a hull of a lot stronger than your mast. The loads generated pulling a wakeboarder are nothing to sneeze at, especially if the boarder is a bigger person.

Might be okay on the 26M. You're relying mostly on the forestay, but I'd want shrouds pretty well-tuned.
Unfortunately for a 26X, the tow rope and the backstay are "incompatible."

on an maybe a tang bolted to a rudder bolt would be a good attach point for a wakeboard - I actually put a cleat low down on my transom for attaching the tender at anchor and also dragging a mud anchor to eliminate the Mac dance...
