Is it a bad bend and is it to the side or fore/aft.

Only a dealer can answer that as the shipping cost has alot of influence on the price. If you are lucky your dealer can include a mast in the delivery of new boats.

I don't think that would be the case. I paid something like $60 for a new 5/32" foorestay.. so add 4 shrouds and you're at $300.

I think I paid under $500 for my X mast, but i did have to wait a couple months to have it shipped for free with a new boat. M mast is slightly larger of course, so probably costs more.

We frequently get calls for new masts and the major problem is delivery.

A 26M mast is two or three feet longer than the maximum shipping length most commericial carriers will handle.

We normally get one up at the factory when we are picking up new boats and bring it to our Colorado location. A buyer will then drive here to get it or we will ship it with a new boat delivery assuming we have one in the general area.

You could try some of the freight aggregators like uship but I understand the cost can really get expensive.

My mast bent in 2006 when one of the pins holding the aft starboard shroud worked its way loose from the chainplate while sailing. The mast fell to port; when it hit the water the mast bent 60 degrees at the spreader. I called MacGregor and several dealerships in my region, Potomac to see how I could acquire a mast. Fortunately for me some poor soul in Urbanna VA had his M26 dashed up against the rocks in Hurricane Ernesto. It cut a 6' x 1' gash in his hull. The insurance company totalled it, but his rigging was intact. One of the dealers heard about it and put him in contact with me. I bought his mast for $500 and hauled it up on my trailer. Perhaps there are still some Katrina, or other hurricane, damaged MacGregors around that may have a viable mast? Good luck and remember to tape your pins!

After having a couple shroud ringdings torn off by genoa sheets in the first year or two, I turned all mine so that the ring ding faces in. Haven't had any more come off now in a few years since I did that. Shrouds are tearing up the sheets though. Perhaps I need to put some rubber hose around it since I think the prefabed ones you normally see on sailboats only fit around turnbuckles.

As Leon said, a new 5/32 forestay only cost me $60 too, but I got a 5/16 turnbuckle to compliment it so I paid an additional $40.
I also have those pre-fab turnbuckle covers that Dimitri mentions even though my turnbuckle tops and swages are covered with tape. The white PVC covers with caps protect the whole ensemble from wear and the sheets never get caught on the ringdings. I am not sure I would put any long lengths of hose or tubing up my shrouds as that would only create more windage drag on my shrouds. Maybe just a bit more tape wound higher might help.

Re the covers for the chainplates I just use some clear 1" plastic hose but this does discolour and for the shrouds you can buy split pvc tubing that slips over them, this also helps on rub points when trailering to.

In July I paid $2400 for new mast, spreaders, shroud lines and extrusion for my rf. I found a dealer who always buys two extra masts with every boat for such problems (Dowser Marine in Hamilton Ont). I was lucky to find him because RCR yachts (who my insurance adjuster wanted me to use)was going to charge me $1500 just to ship me a $1000 bare extrusion and all other work would have been extra. It also would have taken 2.5 weeks for delivery. Plus my adjuster didn't want me using the boat without the mast on and repair work finished.
