Re: Where are you on the Google Trailer Sailer Map?
Hi Everyone,
I think I'm the one who blitzed the map. I was using my old G4 with an older version of safari and couldn't get google to work and it crashed my puter. It was late so I gave up and went to bed. I've upgraded to OSX 10.4.11 and safari 3.2 this morning but I am afraid to try again for fear of screwing it up.

Very cool! I am now listed.
Scott, thanks for setting this up. Kevin, thanks for the tips.
Is there a way to set this google map up as a link on the macgregorsailors.com website...maybe with the username/password already entered?
Jim

Terry,
See Kevin's post on page 1 of the thread. You will have to cut/paste the "direct line" code for your picture from photobucket (or where you store your pics).

Terry,
By the way, that is the coolest looking marina I have ever seen...at least from a satellite's perspective. And it looks like a fantastic sailing location.

Good catch. Fixed, Rich.Hamin' X wrote:I hope that that is a "one-off" email address, Scott. If we leave it in the open on this forum, it will soon become unusable for you, due to the spam bots that harvest email address form sites like this.

I will say that Scott tells me the email address is a spare one, so not to worry.

We think it is pretty cool too Jim! It is a giant hole that was dug out of the land just over 30 years ago. They excavated it, put in the pilings and docks, put in a big breakwater then let the ocean come in. They had over 800 slips when they started out but now some of the smaller finger docks have been reconfigured for larger yachts.c130king wrote:Terry,

It has two levels of security, if you look closely at the map you will see that one half (south) of the peninsula is on the USA side, so living on the Canadian (north) side we have to cross customs every time we go to the marina and the customs folks keep out the undesireables. Then of course we have the marina security to keep the honest folks honest.
The best feature of the marina is it's location as they say in real estate. It only takes a few minutes to exit the marina and you are right out there in the Georgia Strait with many destinations to choose from. Many islands and great scenery, too bad we are relegated by seasons, it gets cold here from November through to March. Still a nice venue though.

Re: Where are you on the Google Trailer Sailer Map?
Yes, I can probably put something together like this. Maybe pull the Location field from people's profile to use for mapping? Then if you wanted to opt out, just leave the location blank. Previously, people were using the location to also say what kind of Mac they had, but I've already added that as a custom field.

Or, what about a field for home-port GPS coordinates? (yes, I know, the list is never ending... so only kidding ... sorta

I've had that thing for a lot longer than Family Guy... going on 30 years now.hart wrote:I'm back on too.Remember, with great moustache comes great responsibility. Any other Family Guy fans here, lol?Québec 1 wrote:Yeah!

Coincidentally, I was talking with my wife about that very thing the other day, and I could count on only one hand all the people alive today who remember me without that 'stache (including her!). Indeed, I don't think my kids would ever recognise me without it.
It seems to be catching, though. Here's a pic of the family from a few Christmas cards back....

I fixed the picture entry by "Wind Song".
Just one note folks - you need to click "Edit HTML" if you want to post a picture - don't try to do it using plain text, it won't work.

Re: Where are you on the Google Trailer Sailer Map?
It seems the folks using TSBB are trying again and have created a new map. Just for reference sake, I've added their map to our profile, but I'd advise we just keep adding placemarks to only ours (Macgregor Sailors Map) and not try to compete. The TSBB folks have similarly cross-linked our map.
