Back stay on a Venture 25

On my Venyure 25 that I purchased last year the back stay is off centre to the starboard side.
I am considering adding another pad eye and a loop of wire and attaching the back stay to that to make things look centred and even out the strain.
Will this mod do anything other than make the boat look better or will it help with the sailing characteristics.
Any comments or advice would be appreciated.

I have left mine stock so I can't tell you if it would sail any better with a loop arrangement. I do know that I want to minimize connections (especially to fish of the back).

You can very easily convert it to an adjustable backstay and gain increased performance by adjusting the bend in the mast. More bend for flatter sail, less for fuller sail. Similar to this:
