Boat insurance in Alberta

I recently purchased an 06 I am now shopping for marine insurance. My home policy company will not cover the boat and I have reviewed the threads on this site. I tried Robertson & Robertson but they will not cover boats outside of Ontario. Can anyone recommend a carrier that operates in Alberta?

I just went to Del Fisher, our regular insurance broker, and they set me up with
Premier Marine Insurance. I just pulled out the policy and see mine comes to $265 a year.

I use Wawanesa (headquartered in Saskatchewan). I get it along with my home insurance from a broker in Airdrie. 500 clams for the year which includes towing liability. Don't know if it's a good deal or not. It does not get me any collision protection, and I am only covered for 1K against damage to other boats. I think the fire/theft part is good though.

Good call on the insurance, I just pulled my policy and Premier Marine is mine too
260 plus 20 on the trailer.

Going to get the boat next weekend and bring her to town for the spring mods.
We need some rain in the mountains.

We use State Farm insurance. We moved to Calgary last year and went with them because we also used them in Washington State for our 26M, can't recall the cost and no claims so far, but based on the auto policies I assume they will perform well.

My boat insurance in Saskatchewan is through Wawanesa Insurance. I pay $444 per year for $32,000 coverage on the Macgregor and Honda motor. I also pay $8 per year for watercraft liability.

The original question was posted some time ago but here`s my comment. I have State Farm coverage on my 1995 26X , valued at $22000. The premium is only $181.

I'm revisiting this thread because I've had some advice and some
experience with boat insurance since I posted my original information.

I have been told there are numerous outstanding claims with Premier Marine and their track record
is the worst in the business. If you want cheap insurance they are still the most economical. If you
want to be covered, and covered properly, it's probably going to run closer to five hundred bucks
with a good marine carrier. My 32 footer came in at a little over eight hundred dollars.

Having said that, even though I went with another company for the Cooper, I renewed my Mac
insurance with Premier last summer - there is much less chance of damage where it sails. I am considering
dropping the insurance on the Mac entirely. The thinking is- if I have lousy insurance I know full
well will refuse to pay a claim, why bother? Either get the proper coverage or drop it.

Just wanted to add to this discussion. Just bought a 2012 and we're insuring through Marine Insurance Langley for $426/y Deductable $420
Limits are:
navigable inland waters of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Yukon, Northwest Territories with permission to occasionally operate the navigable inland waters of the states of Alaska, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and North Dakota.

If we want to go to the ocean I guess we will have to sort that out. good thing I posted this because I had not read the bit of where we could sail.
