Hi Kadet

Have you got pics of the mounting points of the davits??

Does it affect the trim at all??
Mine is a 2.7 m inflatable and weighs 35 kg

Does not effect trim, maybe slightly ass heavy as there is an extra 50kg back there.
No pics of mount but it is just 4 ss Ubolts to the stern seat supports. The vertical support are plastic capped and they sit on the deck/hull rub.
If I get a chance I will take some photos tomorrow, mast and everything is off while I fit my asym spin. The frame is deceptive as it is not just 25mm tube but 1" hardwood covered with aluminium tubing. I bashed the dowels in with a sledge and it made it nice and strong.

While it is true that you can't board from the rear with a dink hanging in the way I don't foresee needing to. If on the trailer I usually climb in from the trailer ladder. If on the water I would be lowering the dink before going out the rear anyway.
One concern I do have is towing the trailer with the dink on the davits. Ideally it would be great to raise it and leave it on the davits until I am backed into my side yard. There I could lower and stow it until my next trip requiring a dink. The problem I see is the length of the dink, it must be 8' or less and centered to allow me to tow on the road. I am going to look into a cathedral hull dink at 8' if I can find one but all I have seen is the Walker Bay from West Marine which seems unstable to me. Does anyone have experience with the Walker Bay 8? Otherwise I would need to lift my dink onto the roof of my Suburban from the side which would be difficult at best.
David,

If your talking about the Genesis 240, I've got the AF (air floor) version and really like it. It has a higher carrying capacity than comparibly sized inflatables and is very stable (IMHO). That does come at a price though, as the pontoons are a bit bigger in diameter, it makes for a little less 'internal space -weight wise, our family of 4 is within cap. limits (pass. cap. is 3+motor), but it is crowded. My youngest has a hard time rowing us around :P . We briefly looked at inflated upside-down stowage on the foredeck, but would have to partially deflate it to allow it to sit down completely on the deck up by the bow stanction rails. Between the kids & regular tender needs, we opted to tow. I found a tether bridle length of about 5' works just fine and it tracks well. If we're just going out for a day sail, then we leave it in port.

Regards,
Shane

Thanks for the photos, if you don't mind me asking in PICT3645 it looks like your mast roller post is connected to the davit is that temporary for trailering or permanent, also what is the post on the starboard side have on top of it?

Permanent, I found the rigging wire to the mast crunch helped thighten it all up and stop flexing.

Port has GPS, Startbourd has about 1 metre of extra pole with an electronic wind indicator mount.

this setup is very simular to what i'd like to do. did you do it all at once or did you add one piece at a time?

the reason Im asking is because I'd like to, if possible, build an arch that can multi task and have the bimini mounts and stern seats, davits and gps, and be fully wired with room for adding stuff on it. kind of an all in one design, is the idea. Its still in the concept stages, so I dont know if its even possible. well, possible without costing 6 grand anyhow. I'll likely try to build it myself, unless i find a money tree.
