The string line at Two Harbors will not be installed until Memorial Day.

After May 1st, stringline reservations may be made by calling (310) 510-4253, M-F, 8 A.M. - 4 P.M.

Until Memorial Day conventional mooring sites are used.

Have a good trip.

Hamin' X, Dennis,
Thanks for the information.
Didn't know about the String Line until Memorial Day tidbit.
Mike, I hadn't called yet, just passing out the reservation info.
Good gouge for the future.

Looks like a mooring ball this weekend.

Thanks bill,
lets stay on "R" line if its ok with you. Never did the string line anyway, hey if the string line isnt up yet, I bet 'R' isnt usable either, well no big deal I checked the web site and of like 244 moorings, 6 are being used now.

Hey I sure am looking forward to this trip. I secured Friday off and a crewman. I have never cooked ashore, Is that the plan for both nights or will we be getting a table at The Harbor Reef Restaurant like last time. Damn fine restaurant. Do we need to bring charcoal, grills, and chairs if we cook ashore? Can we drink alchohol on the beach? Would we be beaching our dinks or using the dock? I need time to pack the right stuff as I am very pressed for time this week. By the way, the forecast has taken a turn, we have a ten percent chance of precipitation Friday so I am preparing by bringing SPF 80 suntan lotion.

........DATE new stainless spreaders installed, boat is in the shop getting the new engine, No phone calls from them today, so must be good news. I really like these guys installing the motor
UP
havent seen the work they do yet. But they are fun to talk with and are willing to work around little problems on the install, instead of just saying it cant be done. Like fitting the new console around the base of the old console, the new console has to be notched and some added material to the base to clear, the reply from the owner is no problem we will do it and make it look good. My kind of people. Im reluctant right now to recommend them to any one, till the job is done. But if they are as good at the work as they are at working with the customer, I will be happy to recommend them, as they work on all makes of motors and boats.

My plan was to stay in a slip in MDR, AFTER THE MOTOR INSTALL, but as I might not get my boat back till Thursday, I need all Thursday to clean and put back some stuff to go.
as well as clean the mast, silicone the sail slides, and put it back up.

BBQ, I believe there is BBQ THINGS ON THE BEACH, I would like to BBQ, and eat at the reef also. But what ever you guys want to do would be great with us. Snorkel? water temps are a bit cold Karen wants to know if any one is going to snorkel?

The spreader, the OG ones were ready to snap big time, electrolysis ate through one almost all the way through, Ill bring a piece to show. Glad it happened on shore. The end caps needed to be drilled out as the stainless bolt fused inside the aluminum end cap, made a bit of a mess of the end cap when I drilled it out, but it still works, Ill order a couple more. All the little rings holding the roller furler on, are shot, replacing them when I put the mast up. The stainless pipe I bought at westmarine has the same size inside, and outside diameter as the OG aluminum so I lucked out. Much stronger though. But the good thing its done now.

if the boat isnt done by Thursday, I still want to go, Ill zip over there and meet you guys fri. night if I have to, But right now the dealer knows I want to leave fri morning and said he will get it done for me.
But there is a lot of prefab on the new console and I told them I didnt want a rush job, just do their best. What set this back was one warm weekend that sparked people to get their boat in for service before summer, I cant expect the shop to turn down work just for me. He had to get rid of 3 boats just to fit mine in yesterday, so Im ok with the delay.

Even if I have to leave later Fri. I dont want to hold you guys up, just go, Ill catch up, I can see it now, first Ill catch tropico, cruise along with him for awhile drink a beer, then David and Bill, cruise with them and have a beer, then hit the mooring have a beer waiting for all you guys to arrive.....Or be towed in by tropico to the mooring if the new engine quits, drinking a whole six pack crying all the way. I hate the idea that the new engines first time out is on a long trip, but hey you gotta start trusting it some time.

Im in a great mood so even if I have to row over Im going...

We'll prolly bring our steak and stuff for one night bbq on the beach, resturant the other night.
Not sure about beer on the beach. Mike and I have cracked a bottle of wine there once, no one said anything.
Maybe use those koosie things and plead ignorance?

Mike, you're welcome to some of my luck to add to yours to get your motor done on time.

We'll look for you Thursday nite at Chase to see if you need some help with something.

Getting close now!

Sounds good, I vote for BBQ Friday night and restaurant Saturday night. That will mean fresher food, no need to freeze my steak or to clean up after a day of rigging, launching and motoring. Plus a nice Saturday night drinking Buffalo Milk sounds like fun! I will be launching from Queensway ramp in Long Beach at about 10AM on Friday. If I'm there first I'll clue them in on our invasion and try for the "R" line if possible. Should we bring firewood, are there fire rings or just BBQs, I can't seem to find information about any "park" area at Two harbors.

I think theres a BBQ near the beach, theres also a fire ring, but they sell wood over there so no need to haul a bunch unless you want to, if you do, bring enough to BBQ a buffalo we can drag down from the hills after dark, I already tried milking one to make my own buffalo milk drink, but got hurt real bad, It turned out to be a bull not a cow. What can I say I was drunk.....

We'll prolly just use our little propane fired, $19 Walmart grill. It's pretty small, two steaks at a time.
It sets up nice on one of the picnic tables on the beach.
Last time Mike and Karen were there with us, they just ordered dinner from the resturant with take-out boxes.
No mess at all that way. Just a thought.

Getting ready to load the truck and be on the road by 1:30 or so.
I hope the 405 is kind to us.

So tell us! How was the weekend cruise? I live in Long Beach and could not go this time but the weather seemed to cooperate. Fill us in on the trip. Good? Bad? So-So?

Thanks.
