Need a new Anode
Anyone have a 40-HP 2-Stroke Merc? I think mine is a 2004.
I am looking for a part number and a source for buying an anode (trim tab). I seem to have lost mine. But I don't have access to my engine or engine manual at this time to check the size.
Thanks for any help.
Cheers,
Jim

Jim - try Mercury Parts Express
If you scroll through the choice of anodes, you should be able to match yours or find the text that fits your application.

I don't know if this still applies to the newer models, but for my '97 Merc 2 stroke, the trim tabs and other body parts were the same for the 40, 50, and 60 hp 13 spline classic lower unit.

Re: Need a new Anode
This is the second one I lost. I lost the first in Norfolk, VA back in 2007. WM did not carry the right type. I finally found a boat repair place that had them in stock. But I don't remember what part number or anything.
I noticed my current one is missing when I pulled the boat after my Christmas sailing on 1 January. I didn't remember until last night when I was sitting here going through all my future projects I want to do sometime this Summer whenever I can get a week to 10 days off and fly back to the U.S.
I think I will see if I can call this place that Stephen recommended and they might be able to send me the right one.
Thanks,
Jim
P.S. Congrats to KHE on making Admiral...again. He is the most prolific poster on this site with 4700+ as "Catigale" and now over 1000 as "Kelly Hanson East". Thanks again for all your support to those of us that can never seem to get Macs, sailing, motors, trailers, etc... out of our minds.

Jim-
Mercury part #s are referenced by serial #s, not model year. A source may get you close with a model year, but close may not be correct. Here is a source to use if you have your serial #: USBoatSupply.com
Here is a link to cross-reference Merc serial #s to model years...but it is dated, nothing beyond 1990: MarineEngine.com

Thanks - I hadnt noticed that. Please note a fair number of my posts are my attempt to keep some humor in my day, usually 3000 miles from home in a lonely and often crappy hotel as opposed to being really valuable.
There are some real resources here along the lines of Kevin, Moe, Frank C, Tan, Rich "Hamin' - all the mods of course.
And kudos to Heath to having the vision so long ago.

Yes, Kudos to all those guys...and the hundreds of others on this board that may not have thousands of posts but they help each other out none-the-less.
