Too hot to sail
At 104 deg F in the shade we will be trailering to the north Puget Sound later next week for some 80 deg weather. Is there anyone else who has to leave home for cooler weather to sail without having heatstroke ?

Re: Too hot to sail
Not only is it too hot, we also don't have any wind. Sitting in the middle of the lake with a surface like glass, 96 degree heat and not a cloud in the sky is NOT my idea of fun!
Now if I had a 90 HP iron jenny, well.......

Bubba, I'm heading your way next weekend but I'm taking the Bayliner I/O for some parasailing
. Don't know if long range forecast for next Friday will hold but it's supposed to be 72 degrees in Seattle. I'm sure I'll be cooking in your neck of the woods (
sun).

Re: Too hot to sail
It is forecast to cool off and be in the 90 this week, it was 118 deg F and 25 percent humidity here yesterday and no breeze. I will be loading our boat and other gear and leaving for the North Cascades on Thursday for a 10 day bluegrass festival at Darrington and then 10 days in the San Juan islands and normal summer weather. I haven't seen rain for 2 months here.

Re: Too hot to sail
We're surprised we haven't had any 100+ degree days here in the high Nevada desert. Luckily we're 25 minutes from Lake Tahoe where it's always 15 degrees cooler, that's one of the big reasons we got the
. Cheaper than lakefront property, no property taxes, and way better views!
It's our dream to trailer up to Puget Sound and sail around the San Juan Islands one day. But until then, we also go to bluegrass festivals... which one are you heading to?

Re: Too hot to sail
Hey Mrs. Skipper,
We are heading back to the San Juan Islands for 11 days at the end of this month. We live in Canada and are only about 20 nautical miles North of them from our marina in Crescent Beach. We usualy do the San Juan's every July, and then a few weekenders in the Canadian side of the San Juan's, called the Gulf Islands.
... and you are right about the view:)

Re: Too hot to sail
In Dubai its 39degC / 103degF and 75% humidity at the moment. The max temperature in the past month was 45degC/113degF and I haven't been out sailing since the third week in May because of the heat.
Roll on Friday (when I fly to UK) and Saturday (when I pick up a Bavaria 30 for a week's charter). Forecast for sailing at home next week 18degC/65degF, westerlies F4 - perfect!
Have a good summer holiday!
Cheers
