Hello, I'm Kenny and new to this site. I just picked up a new/old 1983 Mac.25. I just read a post from someone in the Long Beach area, that's where I live also. I have so many questions i really don't know where to start. I would love to meet other Mac. owners in the area. The boat has been in storage for many years (24) and was not used much before that. It comes with a Honda 7.5L with gen, it has less then 25hr on it and also has been stored. I'm working on the trailer putting new lights on it so I can move the boat to a place to clean it. IT'S VERY DIRTY. Trailer has only been in the water once and had less then 25mi on it. Much more to come later.

I bet you got a very nice boat there if its been stored that long. Take a pressure washer to it; they clean right up that way. Post some pics when you get it cleaned up. I sailed a 1983 Mac 25 for a few years and had a great time on it. Its a wonderful boat and sails very well imho. Just make sure you check the keel and maintain it well.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I am going to take it to a do it yourself car wash for the pressure wash. I'll take a some before and after pictures to post later. I'm not sure what all to check for on the keel. I took a look under there and where the cable hooks to the keel looks good. if you have any ideas what else I should check that would be great.
Thanks,
Kenny

The keel pivot bolt. Look inside the cabin at the forward part of the trunk there are some holes with plugs fit into them. Also under the forward dinette seat if you look inside and over to the port side in there you will see the keel bolt. Just look at it to check its condition, and the seal, then get under the boat and look at the pivot bolt using a flash light. Make sure it looks okay. May be a good idea to swap it out every few years as a precaution.

Kenny,
I will be at the Marina Del Rey Boat launch starting around 9:30. I pulled a bolt through my cabin stepping my mast. CAGuy (an experienced Mac 25 owner with a really tricked out M25) happened by and he might be around tomorrow. I will probably be done with my repair and launch around 12:00 to maybe 1:00. If you can, feel free to wander by and shoot the breeze.
I'll be in the center of the boat prep area with a white and blue trim Mac25 attached to a older dark red Jeep Cherokee.
