even if the mast never goes back on....... a 65 fiberglass boat for only 34K is a heck of a deal. engine apparantly runs.

hull, I would even consider cutting the mast pieces down to the remaining undamaged size and recutting the sail for that price.... (I knew I bought that sailrite sewing machine for some reason)

Wow, I was just trying to figure out where that boat is being kept, there are only two bridges in Miami that look like that one. They're both on the Okeechobee canal (which is basically the interior continuation of the Miami River.) The boat looks very 1980's, I bet Crockett and Tubbs used it for stakeouts back in the day...

Sailing boat hulls make great powerboats as the hull is a lot easier to push and they are good sea boats
A bow thruster would be all that's needed and you could save up for a new mast.

It looks like it's a steal. Invest 30K and a bunch of elbow grease in it sail for a few years and sell it at a profit.

Just not my ideal of a good time. I have enough trouble keeping my M up to snuff. Presently shinning the stainless on it back to its factory shine(it works well when I scrub scrub scrub with my toothbrush).

Looking at the pics on ebay, you seem to get a better picture of the damage to the boat. Granted it is all above the water line. I bet it has been sitting for a while and letting water get in the boat. Who knows what that is doing to the structure. The boat just looks nasty inside..... really nasty. You can tell they stripped anything they could before listing it on yachtworld.

I think you would spend more than 30k in fixing. You would have to install all new electronics (looks like they are all gone)and completely redo the inside. I also think that the damage on that hull could be more than just cosmetic. I am assuming that the 65 had a hull liner like the X does, so for it to come in and do that much damage on the inside must have been quite a hit.

There is another 1984, 65' listed at $99,900. A little good negotiating and you could get it for less. If only I had 100k to spend.

the fiberglass repairs needed are fairly standard procedure, the inside is all glass, and a rotozip will be your friend.

I have been on the Everett mac65 boat longfellow, in my opinion, with the work needed to bring her back and to clean up PO mods is considerable also,she is overpriced by about 40K. I looked at her before I bought the hunter.

And for me not to have taken a 65 she had to be pretty rough. Every system and line is at end of life on that boat.

For only $16,649.00 you could have had a slightly used mac 65 (reserve met). Payment required within 24 hours (I bet that it goes unpaid).

If someone had the skill and money they could fix it up and have a nice "cheap" toy. I don't think I could ever do something like that.

I wouldn't touch the 65 in Florida without a hands on inspection. She needs to be pulled out of the water and have a complete survey done.

Bring that boat back to Bristol is going to take ALOT of boat bucks. New mast, sails, running and standing rigging would make you nauseous. I would really want to see the chainplates...the early 65's had some real problems with them to begin with.

The Everett 65 looks better. Based on the pictures, I agree she is WAY overpriced. She would make a nice blank canvas though. If you have the time and ability and some boat bucks, you would probably end up with something pretty nice.

If you brought either to the yard for work, you would be bankrupt in about 30 days.

Act, I have access to a good set of infrared cams to inspect the hull.......I just dont have the finances right now for a 3rd sailboat. the kind of repair doesnt particularly bother me. I can find the hidden damage as a forensic engineer.

someday maybe, But I suspect we will have to have a 50 footer before a 60 footer..... or maybe a 47.......

I can only guess how tough it would be to deiver a florida boat with open tears in its hull to Britain.......me thinks the repairs are needed before a cross atlantic journey. where was that roll of 24" wide waterproof duct tape.
